Why Ozyegin University?

The establishment of Özyeğin University was started by the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation in the fall of 2005. In addition to research involving more than 500 people including the business world, faculty members, university and high school students, a "Research on Developing Sectors and Professions in Turkey and the World" was conducted during the establishment activities. Based on the results of these researches, the basic values and vision of the university were discussed with all stakeholders through the design studies carried out by ARAMA Participatory Management Consultancy. The vision of Özyeğin University was created with more than 300 people in various workshops attended by business executives, faculty members, university students and new graduates.

It was officially established on May 18, 2007, with the aim of being a unique university that contributes to social development with its contemporary education system, innovative structure intertwined with life, education approach intertwined with sectors and programs it creates accordingly, within the framework of the determined vision.

Welcoming its first students at Istanbul Altunizade Campus in September 2008, the university started education at Çekmeköy Campus as of September 2011.

Özyeğin University Çekmeköy Campus is a quiet and peaceful university campus, designed by the world's leading architectural firm, which also designed the buildings of Cambridge and Princeton, and has Turkey's first LEED Gold Certificate. Quiet and comfortable study rooms on the campus, which is built on a total area of 280 thousand square meters; With its modern classrooms and laboratories, a 15,000 m2 sports center, a 2,825 m2 library, and 2 auditoriums with a capacity of 350 and 372 people, students are provided with opportunities in every subject, aiming to provide them with social, sports and cultural activities as well as their academic development.

Özyeğin University, which started education with the "research-based entrepreneurship university" approach by embracing the 3rd Generation University mission of which universities such as MIT and Cambridge are leaders, while still in its establishment phase, continued with the aim of "carrying out studies that benefit society and create added value". With this goal, its academics have been continuing their work on projects with commercialization potential, in addition to their research and articles published in international journals, since the day it was founded.

Established to serve the society as a researcher and entrepreneur learning center intertwined with life, Özyeğin University, with its innovative education model that creates added value, aims to ensure that its students have in-depth knowledge of emerging professions, are fluent in foreign languages, competent in the use of communication and information technologies, have practical skills, and are entrepreneurs. aims to have graduates who have the desire and determination to make a difference in their environment and in the institutions they will work in, with the equipment and experiences they have gained in classes and in the real world. It trains not only "professionals" but also "entrepreneurs".

90.4 percent of undergraduate students enrolled at Özyeğin University, who believe that successful students should be able to access a good education at international standards, regardless of their conditions, receive scholarships. The university provides education with a total of 23 undergraduate and 10 doctoral programs under the roof of 7 faculties, 3 institutes and 1 college. It prepares its students for life on a total area of 283 thousand square meters on its campus in Çekmeköy.
