Bingöl University; It is one of the 17 new universities established with the publication of the Law No. 5662 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions and the Law on Amendments to the Decree Law on the Staff of Academic Staff in Higher Education Institutions and the Tables Annexed to the Decree Law on the General Staff and Procedure, published in the Official Gazette on 29 May 2007.
In the year it was founded, the newly established Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, affiliated with the Rectorate, and the Faculty of Agriculture, School of Health, Vocational School, Vocational School of Health Services, which were established by changing the name and affiliation of Fırat University while affiliated with the Rectorate, and the Vocational School of Health Services, and Social Sciences, established affiliated with the Rectorate. It consists of the Institute of Sciences and the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences.
In the following years, Bingöl University continued its development in terms of physical infrastructure, research activities, number and quality of academic and administrative personnel, and by the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was established in 2010, the Faculty of Theology, the School of Foreign Languages and the Institute of Living Languages in 2011, and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Faculty and School of Physical Education and Sports (Faculty of Sports Sciences), the Institute of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Dentistry in 2013, the School of Health was closed in 2016 and the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Institute of Health Sciences were established, and in 2019, by the decision of the President, the Institute of Reading Science and the Youth Institute were established in 2015. Vocational School and Solhan Health Services Vocational School were established in 2016, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School was established in 2020, and the Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation was established in 2022.
As of now, education-training-research activities are continuing in our University with 10 faculties, 1 college, 5 institutes, 6 vocational schools, 21 research centers and 1 laboratory, and a total of 190 programs, including 84 associate degree, 42 bachelor's degree, 48 master's degree and 16 doctoral programs. program and there are 16518 students.
Bingöl University has a total of 3,142,238.07 m2 of open space, 3,115,616.85 m2 in the central district of Bingöl, 17,373.49 m2 in Genç district and 9,248.33 m2 in Solhan district, 250,490 m2 in the Central District, 8,500 m2 in Genç District, 8,500 m2 in Solhan District. It continues its education and training activities in a total area of 3,409,448.07 m2, of which 8,200 m2 is a total closed area of 267,190 m2 in the district. In the Central Campus, there is a modern library open to students 24 hours a day, a sports complex where they can engage in sports activities outside of class, a sports complex with football and basketball fields and an indoor sports hall, a Congress that can host scientific and artistic events such as symposiums, panels, workshops, concerts and exhibitions. It is located in the centre.
22nd km of Bingöl-Erzurum road. Bingöl University Practice Hotel and Thermal Facilities located on it are a source of healing for visitors. The facility has a 36-bed hotel, a total of 6 indoor pools, including 2 thermal pools at 42 °C, 2 pools below body temperature and 2 thermal pools, separate for men and women. Consisting of 2 Turkish baths, 2 saunas, a restaurant, massage and relaxation rooms, the facility has an extremely modern appearance. All systems of the facilities are controlled via computers with automation programs. Additionally, the facilities are used as a practice area for students studying in the Physiotherapy and Tourism and Hotel Management Program.
Our university was selected as a pilot university in two important areas in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, it was selected as a pilot university in the field of Agriculture and Basin-Based Development within the scope of the "Regional Development-Focused Mission Differentiation and Specialization" Project financed by the Ministry of Development and organized by the Higher Education Institution, and in 2018 within the scope of "Digital Transformation" studies in Higher Education.
As a specialized university where nature meets technology, Bingöl University has achieved education, research and development at national and international standards in a short time, using up-to-date information and technology, both in terms of education-training and R&D infrastructure, faculty staff, and academic performance and success.
