Why Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University?

The history of our university dates back to Bandırma Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which was established within Balıkesir University by Law No. 3897 dated July 3, 1993 and started education with the Departments of Economics and Business Administration on October 18, 1993. In the same year, Bandırma Vocational School started education and training, and in the following years, Gönen Vocational School, Manyas Vocational School, Erdek Vocational School and Bandırma Health School started education and training activities within Balıkesir University. As a result of the needs of the region and the intense demand of the people of the region, our University was established as the second university of Balıkesir with the Law No. 6640 dated 23 April 2015.

The name of our university comes from September 17, 1922, the day when the last bullet was fired against the enemy forces in Bandırma during the War of Independence and the day it was registered that our independence would be preserved forever.

Well-established educational institutions such as Bandırma Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Bandırma Health School, Bandırma Vocational School, Gönen Vocational School, Manyas Vocational School, Erdek Vocational School and Gönen Geothermal Institute, which continue their educational activities under Balıkesir University, and experienced academic and administrative staff. Our University, which was established with the transfer of staff, has taken its distinguished place in the field of higher education with the slogan "Bridge Opening to the Future". Our university continues its education and research activities with 12 faculties, 4 institutes, 1 college, 9 vocational schools and 19 application and research centers in a total of 11 campuses. As of 2023, our university has 23,169 students (2,450 of whom are international students) at associate, undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels and 1,054 academic and administrative staff. The following units were included in Law No. 6640, which included the establishment of our university:

• Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Maritime Affairs, Ömer Seyfettin Faculty of Applied Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, Bandırma Vocational School, Gönen Vocational School, Manyas Vocational School, Erdek Vocational School, Social Sciences Institute, Health Sciences Institute, Science Institute, Gönen Geothermal Institute.

After its establishment in 2015, our university has incorporated many new academic units in a short period of time, in addition to the units listed above. These are as follows:

• Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Sports Sciences, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Agriculture and Vocational School of Justice, Vocational School of Health Services, Vocational School of Maritime, Bandırma OSB Technical Sciences Vocational School, Susurluk Agriculture and Forestry Vocational School.
